Moalboal is a municipality in southwestern Cebu province. It was established as a parish on February 12, 1852. Its patron saint is Saint John of Nepomuk, a Czech martyr.

In 2005, the old stone church which was built in 1852 was condemned due to the deterioration of its structure. A new church was built just a few meters beside it. The facade of the old stone church and some parts of it however were preserved and now serves as monuments to the parish’s history.
