San Fernando Rey (Liloan)

The facade of the church.

Liloan was established as a parish on January 27, 1845. Made of cut-coral stones, the church features a pair of bell towers flanking a simple facade in the classical form. The stone walls are almost a meter thick and are still in good condition. The emblem of the Augustinian order is carved in low-relief at the main door.

Inside the church are three altar retablos each containing the images of Saint King Ferdinand, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and Saint Joseph. The layout of the church follows a Latin cross plan and looks similar to that of the Santo Tomas de Villanueva Church in El Pardo, Cebu City.

The parish is dedicated to Saint Ferdinand III, a king of Spain who united León with Castille and proceeded to conquer most of its Muslim areas.
