Daanglungsod, which is Cebuano for old town, is the site of a former settlement in Oslob. It is located two kilometers south of the present-day town. The entire area itself is enclosed by defensive walls with bastions at strategic points. A free-standing watchtower also stands at the middle of the area inside. Another watchtower can also be found in a promontory near the site.

The entire fortification is quadrilateral and is quite expansive. There are four portals, two on each of the northern and southern walls. The contemporary entrance though is from the main highway through a large breach at the eastern wall.

A particular bastion located at the southeast portion of the fortification bears the words Año 1789 carved right above the lintel of the entranceway indicating the year it was completed. Sometime between 1790 and 1829, the town was transferred to its present-day location since it was easier to defend against Moro slave raids from the south. The new location also afforded a conducive environment for the eventual development and expansion of the town. The stone church of Oslob in the present-day town was built in 1830 following the plans of then Cebu Bishop Santos Gomes Marañon.

Today, the walls and the bastions of this walled former settlement still stand, some crumbling in decay. There is nothing inside the area now except for a number of coconut trees and some vegetation that have grown through the years. There is a chapel but is of modern construction. There are also the remains of what used to be structures or buildings during the settlement’s heyday.

Just like in most settlements, this walled former town may have also contained religious edifices, government buildings, and some houses for a few residents.
