Aduana (Malacañan sa Sugbo)

The office and residence of the President of the Philippines in the southern part of the country dubbed as Malacañan sa Sugbo (Malacañan in Cebu) is the former Aduana or customs house which was designed by William E. Parsons and built in 1910 for the port of Cebu. It is located in Plaza Independencia near Fort San Pedro.

In July 2004, Philippines President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo designated this building to be her residence and office outside the capital in an effort to reach out to Filipinos in the south. Some of the furnishings from Malacañan Palace in Manila where then brought in. A group of Cebuano furniture makers also donated some furnitures. A perimeter fence separates the building from the main port area and from the plaza.

I would like to inquire if you have more information of the building such as, when was this exactly ( month and date) built and inaugurated. Can you suggest where I can look this up? I was told that the building will turn 100 years old by July this year and based on your info, the building was built in 1910. Would just like to request more data so that we can organize something to celebrate the building’s centennial anniversary.
Thank you very much. I would really appreciate your help.
